چکیده

Compound systems are generally treated by geometrical optics, for instance, through the Gauss’ formalism. The objective is to simplify process of image formation. However, this formalism does not include wave characteristics light and boundary effects. treatment diffraction straightforward. Thus, extension towards scalar theory very desired. This work offers emphasizes its importance. systems, including human eye, then modeled Fresnel theory. For illustration, a lens-based model transform used treat eye system.

Model of wide-angle optical field propagation using scalar diffraction theory

Jannick Rolland, MEMBER SPIE University of Central Florida School of Optics Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers Florida Photonics Center of Excellence Institute for Simulation and Training Orlando, Florida 32816 Abstract. A generalized nonparaxial theoretical framework based on the scalar diffraction theory is developed to describe the propagation of an optical field through ...

Issues in Optical Diffraction Theory

This paper focuses on unresolved or poorly documented issues pertaining to Fresnel's scalar diffraction theory and its modifications. In Sec. 2 it is pointed out that all thermal sources used in practice are finite in size and errors can result from insufficient coherence of the optical field. A quarter-wave criterion is applied to show how such errors can be avoided by placing the source at a ...

Nonlinear signal-processing model for scalar diffraction in optical recording.

A nonlinear signal-processing model is derived for the optical recording channel based on scalar diffraction theory. In this model, the signal waveform is written in closed form as an explicit function of the channel bits that are stored on an optical disk, thereby comprising both linear and nonlinear terms. Its explicit dependence on the channel bits makes this model well suited for signal-pro...

Modeling Quantum Optical Components, Pulses and Fiber Channels Using OMNeT++

QKD is an innovative technology which exploits the laws of quantum mechanics to generate and distribute unconditionally secure cryptographic keys. While QKD offers the promise of unconditionally secure key distribution, real world systems are built from non-ideal components which necessitates the need to model and understand the impact these non-idealities have on system performance and securit...

Nonuniform sampled scalar diffraction calculation using nonuniform fast Fourier transform.

Scalar diffraction calculations, such as the angular spectrum method (ASM) and Fresnel diffraction, are widely used in the research fields of optics, x rays, electron beams, and ultrasonics. It is possible to accelerate the calculation using fast Fourier transform (FFT); unfortunately, acceleration of the calculation of nonuniform sampled planes is limited due to the property of the FFT that im...
